Roadside Rescue: Kitchen Hutch and Vanity Table

While out walking the dogs yesterday, I came upon a bonanza of furniture in an alley. There were upholstered chairs and side tables and bins and shelves out of a refrigerator. But it's this beauty that made my heart beat faster. A full-sized kitchen hutch:

It has the grooves in the shelves for displaying dishes and a cottage-y, beadboard-type back:

It's going to need some new knobs and a paint job, but that doesn't scare me, since I discovered Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint:

It is exactly what I've been dreaming of--full size, lots of charm, not too precious so I can paint it without worrying that I'm covering up gorgeous wood:

I also nabbed this kidney-bean-shaped table. When I spied it, the curvy front had a hideous, rancid fabric tacked to the lip of the tabletop, disguising its legs. I ripped that off before even loading it in my van:

This vanity table is designed to have a skirt attached to these two arms, that swing out...

...to reveal a little drawer. I'm not sure if I'm keeping this one or repurposing it for a friend. But I keep seeing it in white, with a gingham skirt. We'll see....

In the meantime, I can't wait to get started painting this gorgeous beast:

I may have to buy a bigger can of paint.

  1. I just found this on Pinterest, my sister and I had one exactly like this when we were little. Our mother made curtains for the arms and it was our favorite place to hide. What did you end up doing with it?

  2. It's late finding this act. At least, it's a thing to be familiar with that there are such events exist. I agree with your Blog and I will be back to inspect it more in the future so please keep up your act. mebel07.com
