It doesn't snow in Los Angeles, but this time of year, it looks like one type of tree is a giant snowball:
This is the ornamental pear tree, and in winter it explodes in the most glorious display of little white flowers:
Up close, the blooms look something like apple blossoms:
They are charming, even when scattered underfoot.
Unfortunately, the blossoms smell awful. Something like stale curry powder crossed with sweaty gym socks.
*Sigh.*
