Mid-Summer Roses

No Haboobs here, but we have had uncomfortably hot, muggy weather. The roses seem to like it, however:

I am always amazed at how I can plop any assemblage of rose colors together in a vase, and they always look terrific:

I mean, in decorating a room, I'd never think to pair warm, slightly salmon-y pinks with pale pinks, deep pinks, and a lavender so cool it's almost blue:

But every time Mother Nature does it, it looks beautiful.

Under the rose's vase, keeping any moisture off the furniture, is my Nana's little tray, from very early in the 1900s. Her first marriage. She had four.

Heh. That's another story, however.

  1. Beautiful! I'm jealous -- my roses are withering up in the heat before I can pick them...but they are full of new buds and the forecast is for cooler temps, so I'm ever hopeful!
