More Macaron Madness

So, the wonderful friend who brought back these beauties from Paris for me a few days ago...

...went out for a business meeting across town here and came back with this:

It's a, it's a...

Squeeeeeee! It's a Gigantic Macaron!

It's a ginormous "Fleur de Sel Caramel" macaron from a place called "Lemonade" in Venice Beach, to be precise:

And it's so freakin' huge, it looks like the Mother Ship that this regular-sized macaron flew in on:

If a macaron and a Whoopie Pie had a love child, this is what it would look like:

And how did it taste?

Ohmigoodgollymissmolly. It was heaven. Pure heaven.

Chewier than a little macaron, it also had more creamy filling than a regular macaron. And the combination of caramel and sea salt was divine.

It tasted like I wanted to hop in my car right that moment, fight rush-hour traffic for an hour, and beat my way to "Lemonade" so I could buy every one of these beauties in the shop.

Instead, I settled for emailing them to find out more about these delectable mega-desserts. As in, do you guys make these, or do you buy them from another source?

Turns out they make them all by themselves, every day. Omigosh. Every day, this handful of heaven is available to people who live far, far on the other side of this ginormous city of mine.

Lucky devils.

But lucky for me, "Lemonade" is expanding into my neck of the woods. Just 20 minutes away by freeway.

By L.A. standards, that's a trip to the corner store. A hop, skip, and a jump. A piece of cake.

I can't wait!
