It's finally Fall in Los Angeles! The weather is 39 degrees colder than it was just a week ago, and our seasonal rains returned today with a vengeance. It's cold enough to wear a sweater inside. Thirsty gardens around the city are getting a long-awaited, well-deserved soaking:
But the steady rain means no walks, so the pugs and I are entertaining ourselves inside. They're playing tug-o'-war:
And wrestling:
And generally hanging out:
While the pugs chase each other around the dining room, I'm finally bringing out the autumn decorations:
and doing some seasonal swapping out. I'm changing seashells, sailboats, and starfish for leaves, pomegranates, apples, and fat pillar candles. Here's the living-room sofa table before ...
and after:
A corner of our powder room, before ...
and after:
Some display ledges in our family room, before ...
and after:
I love having gourds and pumpkins in the house this time of year, but orange is my least-favorite color. Instead, I love these white pumpkins, which come in a variety of sizes:
They look terrific on our kitchen's new granite counter tops:
These midget pumpkins are so tiny it's very easy to re-arrange them in different locations around the house every day or so:
I've tucked the summer stuff back in the closet:
So, bring on the autumnal finery:
and the rain!
But please, can it stop long enough for these guys to take a pee break?
Please?
My wall-to-wall carpet is starting to look worried.
